Worrell earns regional SAF award

Bill Worrell Bill Worrell

Nov. 13, 2015 – Bill Worrell, Extension agent for Virginia’s Southwest District, received the Appalachian Society of American Foresters’ Volunteer Service Award. A member of the Southwest Virginia SAF Chapter since 1995, he has served in every position on the chapter’s executive council. Under his leadership, the chapter, which at one time considered disbanding, has grown in membership and is now recognized as one of the more active in the state. Worrell has been instrumental in developing the chapter’s “Trees to Products” forestry tour — a weeklong event for teachers exploring forest products and sustainable forestry practices, now in its 10th year. The program and the chapter were both recognized nationally by the SAF House of Delegates in 2013.
