Undergraduate Student

Matt Jensen

Major: Wood Science and Forest Products

  • Option: Residential Wood Structures

“By learning and practicing key business skills necessary for efficient operations in the wood products industry, I hope to improve my decision-making and critical thinking skills.”

I came to Virginia Tech with the intention of studying fisheries science. After discovering the sustainable biomaterials department, I immediately switched majors. I am now a senior studying wood science in residential wood structures and will be graduating in December 2013.

I am from Crozet, Va., where my family owns and operates a peach and apple orchard. I spent this past summer working as a lab technician intern at the Weyerhaeuser OSB plant in Sutton, W.Va. I enjoy fishing, golf, and woodworking in my free time.
